The holidays are always such a busy time for all of us. It’s also the perfect time to thank you for all you do that allows us to continue the legacy created by Gary Randle and Noble Crawford more than 30 years ago. Their dream to create a sense of family for fatherless young boys and to give them alternatives to the lifestyles and decisions that, more times than not, end up with young men incarcerated, was the genesis for HOPE Farm. And thanks to supporters like you, that is exactly what HOPE Farm continues to do.
As we approach the end of 2022 it’s also important to tell you about the importance of yearend giving and the effect it has on HOPE Farm and other non-profits. Did you know that nearly one third (31%) of annual giving occurs in December? And that 28% of nonprofits raise between 26 – 50% of their annual funds during the holidays? With those statistics it’s easy to see why we fundraisers get so anxious this time of year; the last six weeks can literally make or break your budget.
John 1:5 tells us that “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Despite watching one of our nine-year-olds suffer through the loss of his young mother (she was only 34 years old) and hearing the crack of gunshots from a quadruple homicide just a few blocks from our Morningside campus, this year has been one of tremendous growth and accomplishment. In September we welcomed back a full house and currently have a waitlist for our Leadership Development Program! And in October we were one of 10 organizations in the nation to be honored with a resurfaced basketball court courtesy of Body Armor Sports Drink and the Mamba and Mambacita Foundation.
As you can see, despite the darkness, light continues to shine brightly at HOPE Farm. As we celebrate the holidays, please consider making a tax-deductible gift as we wrap up the year. Remember, no gift is too big or too small and every dollar raised allows us to continue changing the trajectory of the lives of our boys and their moms.
Thanks, and have a fabulous Christmas and a Happy New Year.
