Middle school and high school are times of great changes in the lives of our boys and demand that a different set of skills be mastered than on the elementary level.
At HOPE Farm, we desire to teach our boys in developmentally appropriate paradigms.
The Next Level, our academic teaching time for our 6th -12th grade, focuses on teaching our boys how to be independent, lifelong learners. We engage in time management skills, tutoring, enrichment, remediation as well as basic study, reading and math skills.
This highly charged academic block aims at individualizing instruction to meet the needs of each boy as they transition from childhood to manhood. Our weekly volunteers enable us to tailor our instruction to their areas of strengths and weaknesses, making this a highly effective time.
It is during their time in the Next Level that we begin the process of college and career counseling. We engage in academic advising for our high schoolers, college and college fair trips, and assistance with college and scholarship applications. We help to prepare our boys to move into the next phase of their lives through mentoring and monitoring their progress and create programming to fit their individual needs. At this point we have five young men in college with a sixth on his way to UNT.
In addition to academics, our Next Level engages in age appropriate Bible Study, STEM field trips and outside activities that are engaging to this age group. Whether it is going to see a HOPE Farm boy perform in an athletic competition or a Fort Worth Symphony orchestra concert, we strive to take our boys to the next level of commitment to Christ and understanding of the world He created.
